Cannondale SuperSix EVO 5 – Aero racer with electronic Shimano 105 shifting
One thing is certain: even in its fifth generation, the SuperSix EVO remains one of the fastest racing machines in the road scene. Pro teams like EF Education First have celebrated numerous victories at the Tour and Giro aboard the SuperSix EVO. But the US manufacturer Cannondale never rests on its laurels and has continued refining the frame’s construction and aerodynamics. The result is the lightest carbon frame the Americans have ever built. And thanks to the outstanding aerodynamics of the tube shapes, you gain valuable seconds when pushing the pace.
That’s a bonus anyone is happy to take. Despite its strong focus on performance, the developers have also paid close attention to comfort. After all, only those who sit relaxed in the saddle can cover long distances without fatigue. Specifically, the frame is capable of absorbing vibrations. The SuperSix EVO perfectly supports you in every aspect of road cycling, from training rides to competitive racing.
Equipped with the electronic Shimano 105 Di2 groupset, the SuperSix EVO 5 sets standards in the upper mid-range segment. The rear derailleur and front derailleur shift through the 2 x 12 gears at lightning speed with Swiss-watch precision. In terms of performance, the drivetrain is on par with top-tier groupsets like Ultegra and Dura-Ace. In addition to the drivetrain, the hydraulic 105 disc brakes impress with unmatched function and ease of maintenance. Another highlight: the wide carbon rims are more than just eye-catching—they noticeably increase your speed. And to top it off, there’s an aero carbon seatpost.
Cannondale frame construction – Carbon at its finest
Since the 1990s, Cannondale has been regarded as a pioneer in carbon processing. This immense know-how is reflected in the latest EVO generation. The various layers of carbon fiber sheets are shaped with absolute precision—individually tailored to each frame size. This ensures that every rider benefits from optimal stiffness and maximum efficiency.
The aero profiles are optimized in the wind tunnel, recognizable by the organically flowing transitions between the tubes. The seat tube flattens toward the bottom bracket, functioning like a leaf spring to absorb vertical impacts. Another nod to comfort: the rear triangle and fork offer enough clearance to accommodate 32 mm tires. All cables are, of course, routed internally within the frame, preserving the bike’s clean design.
