Battery Disposal

Notes on electrical disposal

In accordance with the law of electrical and electronic equipment (ElektroG), manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment subjected to the ElektroG have to mark such products with the symbol below.

We would like to point out that such devices are not to be disposed of in the residual waste. They are to be given back to designated local collection and return points.

Instructions for Battery Disposals

1. Free return of used batteries

Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally required to dispose of batteries in the correct way by returning them to a professional disposal facility. For this purpose, old batteries can be returned at designated municipal collection points or local retailers. Insofar as our product range comprises batteries or products with batteries, we are obliged to take these used batteries back. In order to return them, please ensure sufficient postage and send them to the following address:

RABE Fahrradhandel GmbH

Pasinger St. 50

82166 Gräfelfing

Germany

2. Meaning of the battery symbols

Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed out wheelie bin. This symbol indicates that batteries should not be disposed of with household waste. For batteries containing more than 0.0005% by mass of mercury, more than 0.002% by mass of cadmium or more than 0.004% by mass of lead, the chemical name of the particular pollutant used is located under the rubbish bin symbol – where „cd“ stands for cadmium. „Pb“ stands for lead, and „Hg“ for mercury.

This is a precautionary note that the shipping of batteries or products with built-in batteries is subject to dangerous goods regulations and these shipments must be marked accordingly, regardless of whether it is lithium metal or lithium-ion batteries. Shipping of dangerous goods furthermore depends on the chosen transport route (road, rail, air, water). An accurate representation would go beyond the scope of this brief summary. It should be mentioned in consequence that each packing piece, which contains rechargeable batteries, must be provided accordingly with a notice sticker with the following contents:

DANGER

LITHIUM-ION batteries! Handle with care! Transport not restricted acc. Special provisions SV 188 ADR / RID / IMGD Code. If the packaging is damaged, there is a risk of ignition, so that the batteries must be sorted out by qualified personnel, checked and, if necessary, repackaged!
