Santa Cruz is perhaps one of the last cult forges in the mountain bike cosmos. But one thing is for sure: Santa Cruz bikes have rightly earned their cult status! Born in the mountains of California, the brand stands like no other for high-quality products, developed by bikers for bikers. And not least for the casual American spirit, the original idea of mountain biking. The Heckler was designed as a trail bike, but has since developed into a flawless all-rounder. With 160 millimetres of travel at the front and 150 millimetres at the rear, the chassis offers a perfect setup for touring, spiced up with technically demanding trails and downhills. Especially as the compact Shimano EP8 motor supports you to the best of its ability. Its capacity of 720 watt hours has enough endurance for long days in the saddle.
In this version, the Heckler MX C S-Kit comes with high-quality RockShox and Fox suspension elements and the Sram GX Eagle drivetrain with 12 wide-ratio gears. Sram Code R brakes make every descent a pleasure thanks to 4-piston technology and 200 mm discs. The MX in the model name stands for Mixed Wheelset: at the front, a 29-inch wheel ensures the best ability to roll over obstacles, while a 27.5-inch wheel claws energetically into the ground at the rear. Of course, the standard equipment also includes a telescopic seat post.
Weighing just 2.6 kilos, the EP8 motor from Shimano creates optimal conditions for an e-fully as light and agile as the Santa Cruz Heckler MX. Thanks to the torque of 85 Newton metres, you can rely on full thrust even on the steepest climbs. Coupling the drive system to your smartphone via Bluetooth opens up countless customisation options with the help of the E-Tube Project Cyclist app. For example, the various support modes can be fine-tuned.
Santa Cruz manufactures carbon frames in two quality levels, designated C and CC Carbon. However, there is no question of "better" or "worse" here. The bottom line is that the C carbon used on the Heckler is slightly heavier than the exclusive CC version. What makes the Santa Cruz Fully frames so special is the special lower-link kinematics. This is a double joint that allows the swingarm to rotate around a virtual pivot point. Hence the name VPP (Virtual Pivot Point). A highly efficient technology that almost completely eliminates annoying bobbing when riding uphill.
