The concept of the Rise model series is: less E, more bike! Orbea thus follows the desire of many sporty ambitious e-bikers who want to enjoy a natural, playful riding experience again. Because with the trend towards more range and thus ever larger batteries, e-bikes are also becoming more cumbersome and sluggish. The clever idea behind the Rise, however, is that the lighter an e-bike is, the smaller the proportion of energy that the drive system requires simply to accelerate the bike's own weight. The second effect is that the rider can use his power more efficiently on a lightweight bike. The bottom line is that a sporty rider can even tickle more range out of a lightweight e-bike. And more importantly, the Rise rides almost as agile and playful as a bike without drive. With 140 mm suspension, its range of use lies between all-mountain, enduro and trail bike. There are two series of the Rise: The H models with aluminum frame and the M models with carbon frame. In the H30 version, the Rise comes with Shimano Deore 12-speed gears and the service-friendly Deore disc brakes. The chassis combines a Marzocchi Bomber Z2 fork with a Fox Float DPS shock. And in typical Orbea fashion, a telescopic seatpost is always standard.
With the EP series, Shimano has brought one of the best e-bike motors on the market. With the help of the Orbea RS firmware, the unit can manage the energy even better. The software limits the maximum torque to 60 Nm. Sporty e-bikers don't need more! The compact motor weighs just three kilos. The battery has an output of 540 watt hours and, thanks to its extremely slim design, could be integrated almost invisibly in the down tube. If necessary, the reserves can be increased by another 250 watt hours with an optional extender battery. In keeping with the lightweight concept, the drive is only controlled via a rocker switch near the brake lever. For more extensive control options, the system can be connected to a smartphone or watch via Bluetooth.
Founded as early as 1840, at that time still as a weapons forge, Orbea has been one of the most important traditional manufacturers of bicycles in Spain since the 1930s. Based in the bike-crazy Basque country, the company's philosophy has always been to be close to the sport. Fans know the legendary atmosphere on the roads when the Tour de France makes a detour to the Spanish Pyrenees. Numerous professional teams in MTB and road cycling rely on the quality of the bikes from the Basque Country.
