The Laufey 27 series is a good example of how intensively the developers at Orbea have dealt with the topic of children's and youth bikes. With a frame height of only 343 millimetres (approx. 13 inches), it opens up the possibility for children from around 8 years of age to ride a hardtail mountain bike with 27.5 inch wheels. This is especially advantageous if the kids are often off-road. The larger the diameter of the wheels, the easier they roll over bumps. In addition to the height, all other dimensions of the high-quality aluminium frame have been optimally adapted to the anatomy of children. The top tube length (reach) and overhang height (stack) are particularly important. This makes the rider feel safe in the saddle in every situation. The manufacturer specifies the upper limit at an age of about 14 years, although this value is very individual. In our experience, tall youngsters can already ride a 29-inch bike at this age, such as the Orbea Laufey H10 or H-LTD. Only a test ride can give 100 per cent certainty on this point.

In terms of construction, the frame of the Laufey 27 H20 is not inferior to that of a high-quality adult bike. Light, triple-butted aluminium is used and all cables run inside the tubes. The Mach 1 Klixx system wheels sit in the frame and fork with the help of stable thru axles. The 148 mm Boost standard ensures superior stiffness. The Laufey comes in the H20 version with an SR Suntour fork, whose 120 mm travel can be optimally adjusted to children's body weight with the help of air chambers. It also has reliable Shimano Deore 1x10 gears with chain guide and hydraulic Shimano disc brakes. Wide Schwalbe Nobby Nic tyres provide grip off-road.
