From the first glance at the sleek and sophisticated silhouette of the Orbea Alma series, it's clear that these hardtails want to be ridden sportily. But don't worry, you don't have to be constantly chasing seconds to have fun with an Alma. Because as soon as you turn onto the first flow trail, you will accelerate all by yourself. Because such a zippy bike simply animates the rider to want to feel the acceleration. Orbea has managed with all his experience from racing, the Alma this driving experience literally inoculate. And this across all price classes! So you get even with the inexpensive aluminum models a hardtail with real pro features: High-quality processed frame, modern geometry and reliable components.
As usual with Orbea, the Alma is also available in two series: The M models with carbon frame and the cheaper H models with aluminum frame. Where cheap does not mean cheap at all! On the contrary. You get a frame made of hydroformed aluminum, with elaborately manufactured tubes whose wall thicknesses have been fluidly adapted to the relevant load zones. This not only looks elegant, but is stable and lightweight. Thus, the frame in size M weighs just 1650 grams. The developers have made sure that the frame offers sufficient tire clearance. So you can also put on wider tires than the 2.20-inchers supplied as standard if you wish. Other clever details: a universal UDH derailleur hanger is used, which can be easily procured in the event of a defect. The ICR system ensures that the cables run low-friction and free of rattling noises inside the frame.
The H20 version of the Alma is equipped with the race-proven SR Suntour Raidon 32 suspension fork. This is particularly torsion-resistant thanks to its large axle width (15x110 mm) and can also be locked while riding using the remote lockout system. 100 millimetres of suspension travel are common in cross-country sport and do not make the front too spongy. The Shimano SLX 12-speed drivetrain works at a professional level and offers a wide range of gear ratios. Maxxis Ikon tyres provide grip when setting off and in fast bends. And the 29-inch wheelset is prepared for the use of a tubeless system. Ready for the race!
Founded as early as 1840, at that time still as a weapons forge, Orbea is one of the most important traditional manufacturers of bicycles in Spain since the thirties. Based in the bike-crazy Basque country, the company's philosophy has always been to be close to the sport. Fans know the legendary atmosphere on the roads when the Tour de France makes a detour to the Spanish Pyrenees. Numerous professional teams in MTB and road cycling rely on the quality of the bikes from the Basque Country.
