E-bikes for children expand the possibilities of going on tour together with parents. Especially if there are longer ascents on the route. However, the kids should already have a solid riding experience before the tour can start. With the Macina Mini Me 241, Austrian premium manufacturer KTM has created the best conditions for a successful entry into the world of e-bikes. The hardtail with 24-inch wheels and a frame height of 38 centimetres is suitable for children from around nine years of age. Further guidelines: body height from 135 centimetres and stride length (inner leg) from around 65 centimetres. The top tube sloping deeply to the rear ensures maximum freedom of step. Because when the child slides forward from the saddle into a standing position, it must be able to stand freely above the bike at all times.

Bosch engine tuned for children

The most important difference to an e-bike for adults: the Bosch Active Plus motor of the third generation, with 40 Nm, puts significantly less power on the chain. In addition, the assistance is already reduced at 20 km/h instead of 25 km/h. The InTube battery is optically perfectly integrated into the down tube and with 400 watt hours offers more than enough capacity for several hours of riding. Finally, the system weight, i.e. the sum of rider and e-bike, is significantly below adult level. When it comes to features, the KTM Macina Mini Me 241 doesn't need to hide from the big boys. The Suntour XCR Air suspension fork can also be adjusted to the low body weight of children using air pressure. And components such as the reliable Shimano Alivio 9-speed gears and Shimano hydraulic disc brakes can also be found on e-bikes for adults. A serious mini e-bike with a high fun factor!
