Cervelo Caledonia 5 Ultegra Di2 - The brand new Caledonia with top features
The racing bikes made by the Canadian blacksmith Cervelo have been one of the hottest brands on the market for years. Besides their high cult factor, the bikes can also do a lot. The German Sunweb Team on Cervelo bikes won three stages of the Tour de France 2020. The brand new Caledonia series creates the link between pure road bikes and gravel bikes. Because recently a clear trend can be observed: Riding a road bike is becoming more versatile, especially among hobby bikers. The focus is no longer on pure high-performance sport, but on riding pleasure. And that also on bad roads, far away from the big traffic streams. The Caledonia is not a real Gravelbike - the Cervelo Aspero models do that - but a very comfortable road racer. Apart from after-work training, it is ideal for long tours, marathons and pass rides in the Alps. You can even equip the Caledonia with the most necessary attachments and use it as a fast commuter bike. For maximum rolling comfort, the Caledonia Ultegra can be equipped with tyres up to 34 millimetres wide. With mudguards the usable tyre width is reduced to 31 millimetres.
Cervelo - Carbon frame construction at the highest level
The frame of Caledonia 5 is a real eye-catcher in terms of aesthetics. This is because in the 5 series, cables and lines run completely inside the tubes. In addition, the 5 Series frames weigh around 150 grams less. Another new feature is the use of low-modulus carbon in the highly stressed areas. The material is less brittle than a conventional high-modulus fibre and thus ensures outstanding durability. The clever details of the Caledonia 5 frame are also typical of Cervelo. For example the removable front derailleur flange, which is attached to the seat tube with two screws. Not only that the component can be replaced in no time at all if it breaks down. The frame is also compatible with it when new standards come onto the market. And if you want to convert your bike to a 1-speed drive, simply leave out the flange and front derailleur completely. The Caledonia 5 is equipped with Shimano's Ultegra Di2 electric group, which is one of the most modern components on the market.
