SpeedGrip Compound

The properties of the new Pirelli compound formulation SpeedGRIP are tailored to every weather condition, regardless of whether the terrain is dry or wet. In the development of the Scorpion ™ MTB rubber formulation- SmartGRIP - the new SpeedGRIP compound retains the same polymer matrix and improves rolling efficiency. The greater need for speed or mileage for the same effort on gravel, with a combination of asphalt, gravel and aggressive terrain, and a mix of uses - from racing to packing to adventuring - prompted Pirelli's engineers to optimize this new rubber for better energy management. The SpeedGRIP compound retains the same tear resistance as its MTB counterpart (SmartGRIP) and has a high chemical grip (also known as wet grip). More efficient energy management reduces rolling resistance to a level very close to that of pure road racing tires.

TechWall Gravel

Pirelli's engineers have combined the technologies of road-specific reinforced casings with those of MTB-specific casings to develop the most advanced gravel casing, whose performance has been improved by the use of special fabric reinforcements and thicker rubber layers in certain areas of the tyre. On the road, most punctures are caused by the penetration of sharp objects, while off-road, most punctures are caused by cuts in the sidewall. For this reason, the TechWALL Gravel is equipped with a cut-resistant 120tpi fabric around the entire circumference of the tyre that still provides a smooth ride.
