Founded in 1988, the US-Canadian forge Kona is one of the pioneers among mountain bike brands. To this day, Kona is under the leadership of the two founders Dan Gerhard and Jacob Heilbron - a real exception in the fast-moving scene. And good for the development of classically modern bikes like the new Kahuna DL. The organically curved lines of the aluminum frame identify the Kahuna DL at first glance as a true Kona. What's new about the DL is that the designers have taken all their experience from the previous Kahona and made this hardtail even better for your trail rides. With an immaculately finished frame, whose filigree dropouts look like works of art. With an agile 29-inch wheelset that provides superior stability thanks to the Boost Spacings. And with a modern geometry that promises whimsical riding fun from the first step. Proof that decades of experience and continuity pay off after all.
Although the Kahuna DL is not an explicit race bike, but a trail bike with strong all-round characteristics - the quality of its equipment is definitely suitable for racing. In other words, the components meet high standards. For drivetrain and brakes, Kona relies on the market leader Shimano, with an indestructible XT 1 x 12 shifting ensemble as well as low-maintenance SLX disc brakes. The 180 mm disc on the front wheel is sensitive dosing and decelerates reliably in any situation. At many CrossCountry races to see is also the RockShox SID SL Select suspension fork. The SID SL is the lightest suspension fork in the program of the US suspension specialist. Thanks to Debon Air System, the fork can convince with excellent response. 100 millimeters of travel are common for trail bikes in this class. Tuning tip: With a telescopic seatpost, the Kahuna DL is even more fun in technical passages. The frame is prepared for such an upgrade with internal channels.
