Haibike Trekking 5 - Versatile entry-level model in the Haibike E-Trekking series

The German manufacturer Haibike has specialized in e-bikes for many years. With the Trekking model series, the Schweinfurt-based company has taken the topic of e-mobility in everyday life to its logical conclusion. After all, most cyclists are looking for an e-bike with as versatile a profile as possible for this area of use: suitable for daily rides in the city, the evening fitness circuit, an occasional weekend tour and preferably also stable enough for a bike tour with luggage. The heart of the bike is therefore a robust 6061 aluminum frame with suspension fork. However, the 27.5-inch wheels play a major role in riding comfort. Equipped with wide tires, they provide extra cushioning on gravel and forest paths. The Trekking is available in two frame shapes: 1. the addition "Low" designates the step-through frame for maximum comfort when getting on and off the bike. 2. as a Diamant frame, without the name suffix. However, the frame is also very comfortable due to the top tube being lowered considerably towards the rear.

Version 5 of the Trekking comes with robust and reliable components: With 11 gears, the Sram NX drivetrain always ensures the right gear ratio. The Shimano Deore disc brakes have been among the best carefree parts on the market for years. Powerful thanks to the large 180 mm discs and easy to maintain thanks to mineral oil. Comfort parts include the Suntour Mobie 25 suspension fork and Ergo grips fitted as standard on the handlebars. Clever: The Modular Rail System makes it easy to attach additional accessories. But it is the road-legal StVZO equipment with lights, mudguards and pannier rack that makes this everyday e-bike perfect.

Yamaha motor - on a par with the market leaders

If you run out of power on the road or things get a little steeper, the new Yamaha PW-S2 motor provides reliable support. Not every everyday cyclist needs a drive with brute power. Quite the opposite. Beginners in particular are overwhelmed by the brute power delivery of sporty Pro drives. That's why Haibike uses this somewhat more moderate motor for its Trekking models. Its maximum torque of 75 Nm is completely sufficient in city traffic and on easy tours. In terms of quality, there is no need to compromise with Yamaha anyway, as these motors are now absolutely competitive. The down tube conceals a long-lasting battery with 720 watt hours. This makes the search for a power socket a lot easier.
