Compared to its predecessor, the Edge 840, it features an improved 2.7-inch LCD display for even clearer readability and a flexible combination of button and touch controls. Navigation is based on multi-frequency GNSS and pre-installed maps with Trendline Popularity Routing, so routes can be reliably recorded and displayed even in difficult environments. ClimbPro displays climbs in real time, while e-bike routing takes range and battery level into account. This makes the Edge 850 suitable for both ambitious training and long tours.

In addition, the Edge 850 offers exclusive comfort features that make it a versatile companion. An integrated speaker provides voice prompts and a ring function, which makes it easier to use in traffic. Garmin Pay enables contactless payment directly on the device. On the training side, Garmin Coach, Power Guide, Stamina and comprehensive performance analyses (VO2max, FTP, recovery time, training load) are available. For off-road riding, the device offers special MTB profiles with 5 Hz GPS recording, Trailforks maps and ForkSight. Safety features such as accident notification, bike alarm, GroupRide, and the integration of Varia Radar and inReach round off the overall package.
