Focus Mares 6.9 - Off the road, off-road

Focus has grown up with cyclocross wheels. The former cyclocross world champion Mike Kluge was a co-developer and figurehead in the early 2000s. But a lot has happened since then! The new Focus Mares 6.9 is the most modern interpretation of this type of wheel to date. Cyclocrossers are robust racing bikes for light off-road use on forest and gravel paths. In contrast to mountain bikes, they are much more agile and manoeuvrable, not least due to their low weight. The Mares 6.9, for example, weighs only 9.8 kilos. This is also an advantage at cyclocross competitions, where the bike has to be shouldered every now and then during running passages. Typically for a cyclocross rider, the Focus Mares 6.9 gives you a slightly more sporty riding position than on a so-called gravel bike, which is more in the touring direction. That's why the Mares cuts a fine figure as a pure road racer with the right tyres.

Shimano 105 components - indestructible and with top function

The fact that Focus has chosen many Shimano 105 components for the Mares 6.9 underlines their robustness. Dust, sand and slush are a particular nuisance for the drive, especially off-road. Even under these conditions, you can always rely on precise gear changes with the Shimano 105 gears. The greatest advance in a modern cyclocrosser are disc brakes. With the 105 hydraulic stoppers, 100 percent function is guaranteed in all weather conditions. Typical Focus is the meticulous attention to detail in the aluminium frame. The dropouts are equipped with the patented Focus R.A.T. thru-axle system, which ensures outstanding system rigidity between the wheels and frame.
