Since its foundation in the nineties, the Focus brand has stood for cyclocross and cross-country racing. So you can rely on well-founded experience from professional cycling, both on the road and off-road. The new Atlas model range closes the gap between the sporty cyclocrosser Mares and the endurance specialist Paralane. For the Gravelbikers, the focus is on riding fun and adventure. The Atlas models are based on a high-quality aluminium frame with carbon fork, which runs through the entire series. The models are defined by their different equipment. What they all have in common is a gravel-typical, comfort-oriented riding position and geometry. This makes the Atlas a tip for bikepackers who like to go on trips lasting several days. The frame also has numerous mounting points for attachments such as racks, mudguards and three bottle cages. How comfortable a gravel bike is to ride off-road depends primarily on the tyres. Optimal: The frame and fork of the Atlas offer space for tyres up to 47 mm wide. It is also possible to mount robust 650B wheels instead of the standard 700c wheels.
With the presentation of the GRX components, Shimano has reacted at the right time to the growing gravel trend. Focus uses high-quality parts from the GRX 810 and 600 groupset on the Atlas 6.8. With a 2 x 11 drivetrain and thus a wide range of gear ratios, the model can show its strengths on the mountain. Downhill, the hydraulic discs can be finely dosed, a decisive point on loose ground! The robust GRX components function reliably and precisely even under extreme conditions such as dust and mud. The special rear derailleur absorbs vibrations and keeps the chain under tension. Light and stable DT-Swiss wheels ensure agile steering and acceleration. Another highlight is the cockpit with flare handlebars and cables that run completely inside. Flare means that the lower handlebar is wider than the upper handlebar for a particularly ergonomic hand position. The cables run from the brake levers into the handlebars as usual, but then directly into the head tube and the frame. This creates an extremely large amount of space on the handlebars for a pack roll or bag, for example.
