The dilemma: If one of these factors is improved, at least one other factor deteriorates in return. A tyre with maximum grip wears more quickly and rolls more slowly. If you make the tyre faster or more durable, its grip is reduced. With the Black Chili Compound, a tread compound that is always based on the latest findings in polymer and raw material research, Continental has provided the cycling scene with a lasting answer. Depending on the area of use of a tyre, Continental adjusts the compound recipe specifically - whether for road bikes or mountain bikes, for time trials or downhill. For Black Chili, Continental refines special synthetic rubbers with proven natural rubber to create particularly high-performance tread compounds. Continental then adds carbon black particles to these compounds, which in turn are optimised in terms of shape and surface properties
