The Cannondale Topstone gravel bikes are developed right in the cradle of gravel sports in the USA. Today, gravel bikers are almost as common as mountain bikers on the trails of Connecticut. And with its completely redesigned frame, the Topstone series further blurs the boundaries between the genres. A gravel bike has never been more versatile. Today you can cruise down a flow trail at speed, tomorrow you can set off on a weekend tour with little luggage. The biggest update has been to the frame, where the rear triangle now sits lower on the seat tube. This design improves the vertical damping properties of the frame triangle. This is an important factor, as the frame and tyres are the main determinants of comfort on a gravel bike. Ideal: the rear triangle and fork accept tyres with a width of up to 45 millimetres. Another secret of a good gravel bike is its geometry. On the Topstone, you sit upright enough for confident control and sporty enough to really pick up the pace. With the Topstone EQ and its lights, mudguards and pannier rack, you're ready for any bikepacking adventure. The frame has mounting points for three water bottles and a top tube bag. But that's not all: the newly developed carbon fork is equipped with threaded eyelets for lowrider front panniers.
Cannondale was one of the first manufacturers in the world to use aluminium in frame construction when it was founded in the 1970s. This unique expertise is still relied on today by numerous pro teams in both road and MTB racing. The Topstone impresses with a superbly crafted frame that has many of the features of the top series. If you are an ambitious gravel biker, then the Topstone EQ leaves nothing to be desired in terms of equipment. The Shimano GRX drive and brake components have been specially developed for gravel bikes and function 100 per cent precisely even under the toughest conditions. The GRX 400 groupset offers 2 x 10 gears and low-maintenance hydraulic disc brakes. Cannondale has been developing other parts such as handlebars, stem and seatpost in its own laboratories for years. The competition-ready wheelset with Shimano hubs is prepared for tubeless operation.
