Riding a Cannondale has always been something special. This is just as true today as it was over 40 years ago when the company was founded in the USA. The innovations of the cult forge have had a decisive influence on the development of the mountain bike scene. Currently, it is BallisTec carbon technology that makes Cannondale frames extremely resistant and stiff. The material comes from the military sector, where it is used, among other things, for armour that weighs hardly anything. On the new Topstone Carbon 2 gravel bike, Cannondale combines the material with the unique KingPin micro suspension on the rear triangle. An ideal solution for light terrain, where vibrations are mainly to be reduced. Besides, a proper suspension with multiple pivot points and leverage is too heavy for a sporty cross bike like the Topstone. The Topstone Carbon 2's equipment is beyond reproach. The Shimano GRX 800 shifting and braking components were specially developed for gravel bikes and ensure smooth performance in all conditions. Another highlight are the featherweight HollowGram carbon wheels, of course prepared for tubeless use.

Revolutionary Carbon Frame with KingPin Suspension

The function of the new BallisTec carbon frame for gravel bikes is the art of engineering. The rear triangle is flexibly mounted on the seat tube with the help of a thru axle. The decisive factor are flexible zones on the chainstays, as well as on the top tube and seat tube. Thanks to these zones, the rear triangle can yield vertically by up to 30 millimetres and is able to absorb shocks and vibrations. This means: more control, more comfort, more traction. Test results prove that the frame nevertheless withstands the lateral forces that act when pedalling. The carbon layup and tube diameters are adjusted for each frame size to achieve the right level of stiffness and flex for each rider type. The system is low maintenance and requires no setup. Internal cable guides protect against dirt and emphasise the tidy design. There are three bottle cage positions on the lower frame triangle, one of which is even variable to create space for a frame bag. Additional accessories can be attached to the threaded eyelets on the top tube. Ideal for bikepacking and multi-day tours.
